Meet Georgina Peach
Georgina Peach is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans painting, performance, and immersive workshop experiences.

A (long) history:

First, came painting: she always painted.
As a relatively quiet child, painting was a way to express her feelings, concepts and thoughts. Her paintings vary in style from hyperrealism to abstraction and in format and medium to include oil, paint, acrylic, watercolour, sculpture, screen printing, woodcut and installation.
Her paintings have continued to be inspired by her diverse life experiences.
Since she was young, she loved water. Holidaying from cold, depressing winters in England for holidays in warm places, often featuring swimming pools, imprinted a sublime-rapture for the sight of light playing in water and its association with positivity and optimism. The sight of water and the feeling of warmth became an important factor in her life. These aspects have inspired recent works such as the Pool Series.

From adolescence and throughout her life, she suffers with monthly menstrual-anxiety and depression. With doctors not taking her seriously and having minimal support, relief such as the calming affect of water on the nervous system made a noticeable impact on her health.

At university, she studied Quantum Physics at Bristol University and then Oceanography (or the Physics of the ocean) at the National Oceanographic Centre in Southampton, before working at sea to capture and analyse waves, currents and tides.
These scientific subjects feature heavily in her painting series, Universal Base Layer, regarding the unseen realms of our existence: the imperceptible patterns that shape our world.

While working as an Oceanographer, she volunteered for Marine Conservation Society, being highly concerned by the effect of plastic in our natural world. She created sculptures using jelly and found plastic, displaying them as deserts, complete with spoons, to be eaten while they slowly melted to reveal their waste-plastic contents. She exhibited these and other works in her solo show Plastic Pelagic (pelagic referring to the open sea) while living in Cardiff.
After working in intense marine survey jobs for 6 years, she felt a strong need to explore, to feel freedom and experience the world. She flew to New Zealand to visit her relatives and to seek adventure.

Once there, she decided to give up her steady job back home, taking an opportunity offered to her by Koru on Devon gallery in Taranaki, west New Zealand. She made a body of work called Total Submersion, exploring her experiences of surfing and water which she exhibited for a month in the gallery.
She then followed her boyfriend to Australia where she used her family connections to become a dual-citizen. She continued to surf, developing the Surf and Shape-scape series'.
Over 5 years, while living in the famous Byron Bay, she explored meditation, yoga and worked for well-known, highly successful artists such as Lindy Lee: working on a $14m commission for the National Gallery of Australia and managing her studio. She also worked as the assistant to the director of Art Byron, a new art festivals showcasing local and international artists.
Having a studio in the creative heart of Byron Bay, she developed her own arts practice in a large, shared studio, exhibiting solo shows and putting on events.

At the same time, she decided to force herself to develop her confidence to become a teacher of painting: progressing from feeling unable to express herself aloud to leading workshops weekly for diverse audiences of 20 - 50 people for 3 years! She developed her singing voice and songwriting abilities concurrently, releasing the joy and playfulness of self-expression through song.

It was also in Australia where she got involved with organising music and art events. She made games and installations for events using her skills with powertools and also became a performer!
Writing and performing as comedic characters for cabarets and festivals to bring joy to people and encourage them to connect with each other through play and collaboration.
She developed her belief that the most important things in life are to be Kind and to Play.

Play makes our nervous systems feel safe, laughing and being creative with thoughts and actions signals to our bodies that we are in a safe place. It relaxes us and gives us energy!

It is Georgina's desire to live aligned with these values and to bring them to others through her actions, words and work offerings.

After 5 years of living in Australia, she unfortunately tore her knee from her motorbike falling on it and was forced to return to the UK, which she had been missing.
It was good to come back to her self of 5 years past, integrating the new version with the old.
Developing the new passions further by exploring the UK's theatre scene; working as a Theatre Producer and performing herself.
Through acting in plays, learning the discipline of Clowning and working and performing at the Edinburgh Fringe, she has honed her skills as a performer. She is also involved with music events in Bristol, working as a Stage Manager for Jelli Records and also performing her original songs at music events. She continues to paint; to write and to perform comedic characters to audiences at comedy events and cabarets.
Now, putting all her skills together, she provides immersive painting experiences. During which, she performs as the artist of whom she teaches the painting style: including Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Klimt. Attendees are invited to 'step into' the studio of the artist whose style they are learning to paint, while taught by Georgina performing as that artist! These experiences marry-up Georgina's expertise of painting, facilitation and performance.

Georgina aims to bring joy, play and connection while providing high quality in everything that she does. She values inclusivity and accessibility, believing no one should be left out. The immersive experiences are for diverse audiences: ages, backgrounds, abilities and painting skill-levels.

All her creative outlets are rooted in her values of joy, curiosity, connection, play and inclusivity.
